Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are expected to miss the Duleep Trophy despite speculation of them playing in the tournament, as per reports.
The selection panel, led by Ajit Agarkar, will pick the teams later this month. However, other centrally contracted players are likely to participate in the four-team event.

Among those to watch are KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant. Rahul missed four of the five England Tests earlier this year due to injury. Pant might play his first red-ball game since recovering from a car accident in December 2022. Suryakumar Yadav, Sarfaraz Khan are reported to be among the players who are likely to take part in the tournament.
Shreyas Iyer, who is not currently under the central contract is expected to play in the tournament as well.
The BCCI aims to prioritise domestic cricket through this tournament. In February, Jay Shah sent a letter warning that prioritising IPL over domestic cricket would have "severe implications."
This led to Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan losing their central contracts after missing some Ranji Trophy games before the IPL.
Mohammed Shami might play one of the matches to prove his match fitness as he nears full recovery. The Bengal pacer is currently in Bengaluru at the NCA and is near full fitness.
The Duleep Trophy format was modified based on recommendations from a BCCI working group that included Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman, Ajit Agarkar, and Abey Kuruvilla. Originally a zonal competition with six zones (North, South, East, West, Central, and North-East), it now features a four-team round-robin format running until September 22. The team with the most points at the end will be announced as winner.
The matches of the 2024 Duleep Trophy is set to be played in Anantapur and Bengaluru.
