In his first match after being snubbed from India's Test squad for the West Indies tour, Sarfaraz Khan was dismissed for a 12-ball duck while batting for West Zone against Central Zone in the Duleep Trophy 2023 semi-final in Alur.
Sarfaraz was in news after he was once again ignored by the Team India selectors and not picked in the two Test-series against West Indies which starts from July 12. The likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad were picked ahead of Sarfaraz who have piled up bulk of runs in domestic cricket over the years.

He scored 982 runs in six matches at an average of 122.75 in the Ranji Trophy 2021-22 season. In the following season, the southpaw scored 556 runs in six matches at an average of 92.66. In the 2019-20 season, the 25-year-old scored 928 runs in six matches at an average of 154.66.
Sarfaraz Khan was clean bowled by Shivam Mavi on the second ball of the 25th over. Post the wicket, West Zone were reduced to 56 for four after opting to bat first.
Further, Suryakumar Yadav and Prithvi Shaw also failed to impress. Suryakumar was dismissed by Shivam Mavi in the 21st over. He scored seven off 13 balls. Opener Prithvi Shaw scored 26 off 54 balls before being dismissed by left-arm spinner Saurabh Kumar who picked eight wickets in the second innings of Central Zone's quarter-final match against East Zone.
Further, Cheteshwar Pujara who has been dropped from the Indian Test walked in to bat at three and was unbeaten on seven off 47 when this story was published.
