DY Patil Red thrashed Income Tax by 48 runs in the final to clinch the the 18th DY Patil T20 Cup at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Saturday (March 9) night.
After being asked to bat, DY Patil Red posted 221 for nine in their 20 overs. In their response Income Tax finished on 173-9 in their 20 overs, falling short of the target in the title clash.

Red openers Siddharth Patidar (43) and Aman Khan (43) added a brisk 70 runs for the opening wicket. Then there were regular partnerships throughout the innings.
Nitish Rana (38) and Abdul Samad (32) played crucial hands. For Income Tax the best bowlers were Shahbaz Ahmed (2-37) and Ishan Porel (2-44).
The chase for Income Tax never really took off. There was brief resistance when Sheldon Jackson (31) and Anuj Rawat (35) played valiant knocks. But that was just not enough as Red completed the formalities quite easily.
There was a 59 run eighth wicket stand between Sumit Kumar and M Mohammed (30) which delayed the inevitable. But in the end Income Tax ended on 173-9 in their 20 overs. For Red the best bowlers were Abhinandan Singh (3-17), Varun Chakravarthy (2-20), Nitish Rana (2-31).

Earlier in the last four clash, Krunal Pandya led from the front as DY Patil Red trounced CAG by 91 runs in the first semi-final of the 18th DY Patil T20 Cup at the DY Patil Stadium on Saturday.
In the other semi-final at the DY Patil University ground, Income Tax thrashed Tata Sports Club by 41 runs to make the final of the tournament.
At the Stadium, Red after being asked to bat, posted a massive 221 for seven in their 20 overs. Siddharth Patidar (78: 41b, 10x4, 3x6) and Nitish Rana added 56 runs for the second wicket. Then Patidar added 68 runs for the third wicket with skipper Pandya (44).
Thereafter Pandya added 61 runs for the fourth wicket with Abdul Samad (40). In the end Red finished on 221 for seven in their 20 overs. For CAG the best bowlers were Sayan Ghosh (3-30), Rajnish Gurbani (2-34) and Abid Mushtaq (2-30).
The chase for CAG never took off as only Sanveer Singh (51: 36b, 3x4, 3x6) held firm. For Red the best bowlers were Pandya (4-20) and Varun Chakravarthy (4-20) as they won by a massive 91 runs.
At the University Ground, Income Tax made 181 for eight in their 20 overs after opting to bat against Tata Sports Club. Lalit Yadav (57: 28b, 6x4, 3x6) was the top-scorer for Income Tax.
In their response Tata was unable to get going. Only skipper Sujit Naik (51: 31b, 4x4, 3x6) provided any fight for Tata. They were eventually bowled out for 140 in 19.1 overs. For Income Tax the best bowlers were Sumit Kumar (3-30) and M Mohammed (2-38) as they made it to the final.
