The iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata, established in 1864 and renovated in 2011, will host nine matches during the eighteenth edition of the Indian Premier League – IPL 2025, starting from Saturday (March 22).
Eden Gardens, the oldest and second largest cricket stadium in India, has served as home venue to Bengal state teams, the Indian cricket team and since 2008, when Indian Premier League (IPL) started, as a home to the Kolkata-based franchise Kolkata Knight Riders.

Called the Home of Cricket in India, Eden Gardens will play hosts to seven home games of defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders, who begin their quest for a fourth title, in the upcoming season of IPL.
As per the officially released schedule, KKR will stage the tournament curtain-raiser against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Saturday (March 22) before the reigning champions return to their home again for the remaining matches in April and May.
Eden Gardens will be hosting it’s fifteenth season of the cash-rich league matches, having previously hosted several matches in IPL, the home games of KKR in 13 seasons and as a neutral host during the 2022 season.
