Edgbaston, July 3: Indian captain Shubman Gill entered his name into the record books on Day 2 of the second Test against England at Edgbaston, reaching his maiden Test score of 150 here on Thursday (July 3).
Resuming from his overnight score of 114*, Gill remained composed and assured at the crease, bringing up the milestone with a confident stroke off England spinner Shoaib Bashir.

This landmark innings marks a significant personal milestone for Gill - not only is it his first-ever 150 in Test cricket, but it also places him in rarefied air among Indian captains. He now becomes only the second Indian captain to score 150 or more in a Test on English soil, following in the footsteps of the legendary Mohammad Azharuddin, who made 179 at Old Trafford, Manchester in 1990.
What makes Gill's feat even more remarkable is his age. At just 25, he joins an exclusive club of Indian skippers who have notched 150-plus scores in Test cricket before turning 26. Only Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and Sachin Tendulkar had achieved that distinction prior to him - Pataudi doing it twice.
Gill's innings has come at a crucial juncture in the match. With India seeking a dominant first-innings total, his calm approach and calculated aggression have laid a strong platform. His knock, peppered with elegant drives and steady resilience against the moving ball, underlines his evolution as a dependable leader in the longest format.
