Ekana Stadium, Lucknow Pitch Report & Weather Forecast for IND vs ENG ICC ODI World Cup 2023 Match 29

Ekana Stadium in Lucknow is set to host it's fourth match in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023 when an unbeaten Indian side will look to add further misery to defending champions England in match 29 on Sunday (October 29).

Rohit Sharma's India head into the match on the back of a perfect start, having won their fifth and most recent encounter against New Zealand at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala, while Jos Buttler's England suffered their fourth defeat of the tournament, having lost to Sri Lanka in Bengaluru.

India opened their campaign by beating Australia on a surface that was termed a 'Test Pitch' in Chennai, but have since played on batting friendly wickets in their wins over Afghanistan in Delhi, Pakistan in Ahmedabad and Bangladesh in Pune.

England, on the other hand, failed to beat New Zealand in Ahmedabad before thumping Bangladesh in Dharamsala followed by batting failures in Delhi against Afghanistan, in Mumbai against South Africa, and in Bengaluru against Sri Lanka.

Both sides have played their matches on different surfaces so far. This will be the first outing for both the teams at the Ekana Stadium, which has so far hosted three matches in the show-piece tournament.

The three matches hosted at the Ekana Stadium has seen mixed results so far with the first match seeing a team stutter in a steep run chase, while the second saw the team batting first struggle to get runs on the board and the third saw a team chase a target of 250 plus.

Also one of the matches in Lucknow saw a small stoppage due to rain. So with some parts of India witnessing rain over the last few days, will rain play spoilsport? And how will the wicket play in Ekana Stadium?

Here is a look at the Australia vs Sri Lanka match details like the Lucknow Weather Forecast and BRSABV Ekana Stadium Pitch Report for the IND vs ENG ICC World Cup 2023 Match 19:

Lucknow Weather Forecast on October 29 For IND vs ENG World Cup Match

AccuWeather forecasts hazy sunshine with temperatures at 32° C during the start of the day match, reducing to 23° C in the closing stages. There is no threat of rain on October 29 and in the lead up to the match. So, rain will not play spoilsport in IND vs ENG.

Dew has been a factor in the later stages of the match at this venue, which had been known for producing some low-scoring games in the limited matches hosted here till the first match saw a team cross 300-run mark. So, will the wicket be a similar one or the one used in the other games?

Ekana Stadium Pitch Report For IND vs ENG ICC World Cup 2023 Match

The wickets at the Ekana Stadium had produced many low-scoring games, favouring the spin or slower bowlers. But the wickets being used for the World Cup are fresh and prepared using black soil.

The freshly prepared wickets have seen run-scoring at ease either in the second innings in two matches or first innings in one match. The team chasing has had a 2-1 record at this venue in the ongoing World Cup.

The only time a team failed in the chase was when Australia tried to chase down 312 against South Africa. However, the Australian side chased down 210 with ease against Sri Lanka, who later eased to their target of 263 against Netherlands.

Overall, the average score batting first in ODIs at this venue bumped to 215 from 188. Also, the team chasing has had the edge with 4 wins so far. With IND vs ENG being a day-night game, there may be dew later in the match, tempting the captains to chase.

While India may be confident of chasing down a score, having done so in all their matches so far, England may be a little concerned doing the same as their heavyweight batting has failed in four of their five innings so far. India may be tempted to play three spinners again.
