Security measures have been intensified for the India-Bangladesh second Test match at the International Green Park Stadium, starting on September 27. A senior official confirmed these arrangements on Tuesday (September 24).
The police have devised a comprehensive security plan for the cricket teams, who are expected to arrive by Tuesday evening.

An FIR was lodged against 20 members of the Akhilesh Bhartiya Hindu Mahasabha on Monday. They allegedly conducted a havan, blocking the road near the stadium to protest against alleged atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh, according to ACP Harish Chander. The FIR includes charges under sections for unlawful assembly and rioting.
Kanpur’s Additional Commissioner of Police Law and Order, Harish Chander, stated that they have requested sufficient police personnel, including senior officers, for the event. "We are reviewing the security arrangements to leave no stone unturned and are confident of getting an adequate police force to meet the requirements," he added.
The Green Park Stadium and Hotel Landmark have been divided into sectors, zones, and sub-zones. DCP East Shrawan Kumar Singh has been appointed as the nodal officer for the event. Each area is managed by officials of DCP, additional DCP, and ACP rank, respectively.
Coordination with central and state agencies, including the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and state intelligence, is ongoing. This collaboration aims to share any threat-related inputs and handle them efficiently. Traffic diversions have also been implemented ahead of the match to ensure smooth movement around the venue.
The FIR names individuals such as Rakesh Mishra, Vikas, Atul, Jaydeep, Vikas Gupta, Prashant Dheer, Ajay Rathore, Ashish, Brajesh, and about 10 others unidentified. Charges include unlawful assembly under BNS sections of 1892 and rioting under section 191 2.
The authorities are committed to ensuring a secure environment for both teams and spectators during this high-profile match. With extensive planning and coordination among various agencies, they aim to address any potential threats effectively.
