‘Embarrassing’: Salman Ali Agha Gives Honest Verdict After England T20 World Cup Loss

Salman Ali Agha described Pakistan's two-wicket loss to England cricket team in the T20 World Cup 2026 Super 8 as "very embarrassing", admitting it was a result that was difficult to digest after a match they felt was within reach.

Speaking after the defeat, the Pakistan captain did not hide his disappointment. "Honestly, this is a very embarrassing defeat for us. It's really hard to accept this loss," he confessed.

"Overall, we played good cricket, and we could have won the match. But today Allah did not help us, so we ended up losing in the end. We will make a comeback in the next match, and we hope to reach the semifinals and win the World Cup trophy to make the whole country happy. With Allah by our side, everything is possible."

Pakistan had posted 164, but Harry Brook's 51-ball century powered England home in 19.1 overs, sealing their semi-final berth and leaving Pakistan's campaign hanging by a thread.
At the post-match presentation, Salman conceded that Pakistan failed to maximise their start with the bat.

"Started well with the bat but couldn't finish the way we wanted to. But some days you have to give credit to other batters. I think Harry batted brilliantly. Our score was a bit short. And then Brook took the game away from us. We threw everything at him," he said.

He also praised opener Sahibzada Farhan for his consistency through the tournament.
"I think [Farhan has] batted very well throughout the World Cup. Other batters haven't played the way we wanted to, but it can happen like that in World Cups," Salman said.

On the bowling front, he singled out Shaheen Afridi's impact with the new ball.
"He [Shaheen] bowled really well today. He's famous for early wickets, and he did that today," he added.

Salman reserved special mention for Brook, acknowledging the England batter's ability to dictate the contest. "Whenever we play against England and lose, it's always him. Have to say hats off to him and the way he batted today. Very challenging, the way he batted. He can play all around the ground, so it can get challenging."

With England now through to the last four, Pakistan must win their final Super 8 fixture and hope other results fall in their favour: a scenario made more complicated by a defeat their captain has already labelled one of the toughest to swallow.
