Emerging Asia Cup T20 2024: India A Squad Announced; Tilak Varma named Captain, Abhishek Sharma to Deputy

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially announced the India A team for the forthcoming ACC Men's T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2024.

This eagerly awaited tournament is set to unfold from the 18th to the 27th of October 2024 in Muscat, Oman.

The selection committee has assembled a robust team, signaling a promising campaign in the upcoming tournament. The India A team, which finds itself in Group B, will face Oman, Pakistan A, and the UAE.

Tilak Varma named Captain

Tilak Varma has been picked up as the captain of the Indian team, whereas Abhishek Sharma is set to deputize him.

India's journey in the tournament will kick off with a match against Pakistan A on October 19, 2024, at the Oman Cricket Academy Ground in Muscat. It's a lineup that blends experience and youthful vigour, featuring notable players like Prabhsimran Singh, who will take on the role of wicketkeeper, alongside talented individuals such as Nishant Sindhu, Ramandeep Singh, and Nehal Wadhera. Sai Kishore is also named whereas Rahul Chahar, Rasik Salam Dar are among the other notable picks.

The tournament is structured to foster emerging talents, placing India A amongst a diverse group of competitors. Group A comprises Afghanistan A, Bangladesh A, Hong Kong, and Sri Lanka A, setting the stage for an enthralling series of matches.
