Afghanistan A vs Hong Kong: Hong Kong pulled off a thrilling five-wicket victory over Afghanistan A in their final group match of the Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2024, chasing down 132 with three balls to spare at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground.
Despite Afghanistan A already securing a spot in the semifinals, Hong Kong earned a morale-boosting win as they bid farewell to the tournament.

Afghanistan A won the toss and opted to bat first, but their innings struggled to gain momentum on a slow pitch. In-form opener Sediqullah Atal once again led from the front, scoring a composed 52 off 39 balls, his third consecutive half-century of the tournament.
However, Afghanistan A's batting collapsed around him, with Anas Khan delivering a match-winning performance for Hong Kong. His off-spin dismantled Afghanistan's middle and lower order, finishing with sensational figures of 6 for 12, the best bowling figures of the tournament. Afghanistan A was bowled out for 131 in 19.5 overs, with only Karim Janat (21) offering some resistance late in the innings.
In response, Hong Kong's chase got off to a shaky start, losing Anshuman Rath for a duck and Zeeshan Ali for 12 early on. However, captain Nizakat Khan anchored the innings, playing a crucial knock of 61 from 51 balls, including three sixes. His partnership with Babar Hayat, who contributed a steady 39, was instrumental in keeping Hong Kong in the hunt, despite a rising required run rate.
With 19 runs needed off the last 12 balls, Afghanistan's bowlers fought back, as Qais Ahmed and Abdul Rahman took key wickets. But Martin Coetzee's two boundaries in the final over sealed the win for Hong Kong, who reached 133 for 5 in 19.3 overs. Abdul Rahman was the standout bowler for Afghanistan A, taking 3 for 17, while Qais Ahmed claimed 2 for 18.
Despite the defeat, Afghanistan A advances to the semifinals, while Hong Kong exits the tournament with a spirited performance in their final match.
