By MyKhel Staff

India A vs Oman: India A secured a dominant six-wicket victory over Oman at the Al Amerat Stadium on October 23 to top Group B of the Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2024. With the win India A topped Group B and set up a semifinal clash against Afghanistan A on Friday - October 25.

Chasing a modest target of 141, India A comfortably reached 146/4 in 15.2 overs, thanks to Ayush Badoni's blistering 51 and captain Tilak Varma's steady 36*. Oman, opting to bat first after winning the toss, posted a total of 140/5 in their 20 overs.

Despite a resilient knock of 41 from Mohammad Nadeem and contributions from Hammad Mirza (28) and Wasim Ali (24), the Omani batters struggled to accelerate against a disciplined Indian bowling attack.

Ramandeep Singh's impressive figures of 1/2 from his solitary over were crucial in breaking the momentum. Support from the spin trio of Sai Kishore (1/21), Nishant Sindhu (1/12), and Rahul Chahar (0/19) further stifled Oman's scoring.

India A's chase got off to a steady start, with opener Abhishek Sharma smashing 34 before being dismissed. Anuj Rawat (8) fell cheaply, but the partnership between Ayush Badoni and Tilak Varma was the turning point of the game. Badoni's power-hitting was particularly destructive, as he clobbered 24 runs in one over off Samay Shrivastav, ensuring that the required run rate remained under control. Tilak Varma played a calculated knock, anchoring the innings while Badoni took on the bowlers.

After Badoni's dismissal for 51, Varma and Ramandeep Singh (13*) finished the game with ease, with Ramandeep sealing the victory with a towering six. India A chased down the target with 28 balls to spare, underlining their dominance.

With this victory, India A topped Group B, finishing ahead of Pakistan A. They now advance to the semifinals, where they will face Afghanistan A in the second semifinal, scheduled for October 25 at 7:30 PM IST. India A's consistent performances throughout the tournament have made them strong contenders for the title, and their commanding win over Oman adds momentum as they move into the knockout stages.
