PAK-A vs UAE: In a crucial virtual quarterfinal of the Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2024, Pakistan A cruised to a commanding 114-run victory over the UAE at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground, securing their place in the semifinals. With the defeat, the UAE were eliminated from the competition.
Opting to bat first, Pakistan A put up an imposing total of 179/4 in their 20 overs, thanks largely to skipper Mohammad Haris' unbeaten knock of 71 off 38 balls. Haris anchored the innings and provided a late flourish with Haider Ali, who contributed 32 from 17 deliveries.

The two added 67 runs for the fifth wicket, propelling their team to a competitive score. Mohammad Farooq was the standout bowler for UAE, picking up 3 wickets for 27 runs, but his efforts were not enough to prevent Pakistan from posting a big total.
In reply, the UAE batting lineup faltered right from the outset. Shahnawaz Dahani was lethal with the new ball, ripping through the top order with figures of 5/12, his best in T20 cricket. Dahani dismissed both openers early, with Mayank Kumar caught behind for a duck and Aryansh Sharma bowled for 8. The UAE never recovered from the early blows, as wickets continued to tumble at regular intervals. Only Rahul Chopra (20) and Tanish Suri (15) managed to reach double figures, while no other batter could offer any significant resistance.
Sufiyan Muqeem provided excellent support to Dahani, picking up 2/17, while Ahmad Daniyal and Arafat Minhas chipped in with a wicket each. The UAE were eventually bundled out for a mere 65 in 16.3 overs, falling 114 runs short of the target. Pakistan A's dominant bowling performance ensured they comfortably booked their place in the semifinals.
This victory also saw Pakistan A overtake India A in the Group B standings. While Pakistan A progressed to the knockout stage, UAE's campaign came to an end in what was a winner-takes-all encounter. Pakistan will now await the outcome of the final group games to determine their semifinal opponents, as they look to carry forward the momentum gained from this comprehensive win.
