England skipper Harry Brook's unbeaten century in the 3rd ODI on Tuesday (September 24) broke a long-standing record held by Alastair Cook and also ended Australia's winning streak that dated back to the 2023 ODI World Cup.
With his maiden ODI hundred, Brook became the youngest ODI captain for England to score a century. Standing in for Jos Buttler, Brook at 25 years and 215 days surpassed former captain Cook, who achieved the record back in 2011 at 26 years and 190 days.

Brook, who scored an unbeaten 110 off 94 balls now leads the list that also features the likes of 2019 ODI World Cup-winning skipper Eoin Morgan, Michael Atherton and Marcus Trescothick. Here is a look at the top 5 youngest captains to score a ODI hundred for England:
Overall, Brook joined the likes of Steve Smith (Australia), Sachin Tendulkar (India), Shakib Al Hasan (Bangladesh), Graeme Smith (South Africa), Kane Williamson (New Zealand) and Babar Azam (Pakistan) among the youngest ODI centurion captains for their respective countries.
The 25-year-old Brook, however, does not feature in the top 15 list which is dominated by Shakib, Tendulkar, Graeme Smith, Mohammad Ashraful, Kane Williamson, William Poterfield and Kapil Dev, who all scored centuries as captain when they were under 25 years of age.
Brook's maiden century at the Seat Unique Riverside in Chester-le-Street on Tuesday (September 24) kept England alive in the five-match ODI series against Australia, who saw their 14-match winning streak halted by a 46-run (DLS Method) loss.
Australia's run of 14 successive wins dates back to the 2023 ODI World Cup, which they won in India when they scripted a remarkable turnaround after losing their first two matches of the tournament against India and South Africa.
Australia won nine matches on the trot at the show-piece tournament, cruising to their record-extending sixth ODI World Cup crown. They maintained the unbeaten run with a 3-0 whitewash at home against the West Indies earlier this year.
The defending ODI champions were well on-course to surpassing their own record of most consecutive One Day International wins with back-to-back wins against England in the first two matches of the series.
However, Brook and rain saw their winning streak come to an end. Chasing 305, England rode on Brook-Will Jacks stand of 156 to reach 254/4 in 37.4 before rain arrived to force the result to be determined by DLS method.
