The all-rounder first picked two wickets for just 16 runs in three overs, and then smashed 87 off 47 balls to help England chase down a 194-run target with an over to spare.

The innings from Livingstone consisted of six fours and five sixes. The right-hander first partnered with captain Phill Salt for 45 runs off 29, and then joined forces with Jacob Bethell for a match-winning 90-run partnership off just 47 balls. Bethell, who flopped on his debut in the first T20I, chipped in with 44 off 24 balls.

Sean Abbott gave Australia early advantage after sending back opener Will Jacks (12), and Jordan Cox (0) back in the pavilion before the end of the fourth over, Salt and Livingstone - the two most experienced batters in the side - brought the hosts back in the contest.

Australian opener Matthew Short completed his five-wicket haul after the damage was done. He picked the wickets of Salt, Livingstone, Bethell, Sam Curran, and Brydon Carse to register figures of 5/22 in three overs.

Earlier, England opted to bowl first after winning the toss. Their top four did the majority of the scoring. Short scored 28 off 24, while his opening partner and Australia's stand-in captain Travis Head continued his red hot form in the format and scored 31 off 14. Notably, Mitchell Marsh had to sit out due to illness.

Jake Fraser-McGurk was brought back in the eleven at number three, and he ended up scoring his first fifty for Australia. The youngster scored 50 off 31 balls. Josh Inglis followed him at four and scored 42 off 26.

Liam Livingstone picked the wickets of McGurk and Marcus Stoinis (2), before Cameron Green (13*) and Aaron Hardie (20* off 9) stitched an unbeaten 36-run partnership off 17 balls to help Australia post 193/6 in 20 overs.
