Fear of time out was felt during England vs Netherlands match in the ICC World Cup 2023 when Chris Woakes was seen talking to the umpire regarding his helmet after coming out to bat at the MCA International Stadium in Pune.
The incident happened in the 37th over of the match with England's score reading 192/6 (36.2 overs) after Jos Buttler chose to bat first. Walking out to bat at the No. 8 position, Chris Woakes was spotted talking to the umpire while pointing at his helmet cage and then walked to the crease with a grin on his face.

While it's unclear how long the English batter took to reach the crease or what conversation Chris Woakes had with the umpire upon reaching the pitch after the dismissal of Moeen Ali (4) a ball ago, it is understood that the all-rounder preferred having clear communication with the on-field match official about it.
The incident shows the fear of the much controversial Time out dismissal of Sri Lankan batter Angelo Mathews against Bangladesh after skipper Shakib Al Hasan surprised the cricket world with his appeal for such a rarely-provoked dismissal.
Fans and experts alike were split over Shakib's decision with Mathews calling such an act disgraceful as he found it against the spirit of the game. This was the first such incident in the history of international cricket while six such dismissals are recorded in first-class cricket, including one from India.
As far as the match is concerned, Ben Stokes (46*) and Chris Woakes (24*) were on the crease with England putting 226/6 on the boards in 41.2 overs at the time of writing. Dawid Malan earlier scored an 87 before unfortunately getting run out while Aryan Dutt took two wickets as the most successful Dutch bowler.
England and Netherlands are already out of the semifinal run and are aiming for a top-eight finish, which earns them direct entry into the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
