Lord's, September 15: Dawid Malan continued his great form and hit yet another century against New Zealand in the fourth ODI of the ongoing series on Friday (September 15). This is his 5th ODI century in just 21 innings.
After winning the toss, England opted to bat first. Matt Henry and Tim Southee started the proceeding with the new ball. Henry got an early scalp as he found Jonny Bairstow's edge which went straight to Daryl Mitchell, standing at the second slip. England's no.3 Joe Root joined Malan for the second wicket.

Malan looked flawless, right from the word go, creaming boundaries on demand. He pushed a ball towards mid-off and took a single to bring up his third half-century of the series. Root's stay on the crease, on the other hand, was very shaky. He got two chances before perishing on 29. However, the duo added 79 runs for the team for the second wicket, most of which was scored by Malan.
After Root, the young sensation, Harry Brook, could not add much to the total and went out cheaply for just 10 as Rachin Ravindra took his second wicket in the game. Captain Jos Butler then joined Malan and they put up a 50-run stand together. Butler looked good for his 36.
As wickets kept falling on one end, Malan stood his ground, kept rotating the strike, and scored occasional boundaries, on the other. He brought up his century by flicking a ball towards square leg and picking a couple. That was his 5th ODI ton in total. He has had a great series so far.
After his hundred, Malan went on an attack mode, hitting two sixes in two overs. After the drinks break, Malan tried to cut a short ball from Rachin Ravindra but only managed to find an edge, which went straight into the hands of Tom Latham.
England ended their innings at 311/9 in 50 overs. This is their fourth match of the series. England is leading the series 2-1. New Zealand will look to win this match in order to level the series 2-2.
