ENG vs SL: England stopped to a new low at the World Cup 2023 after getting bundled out for 156 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Thursday, October 26.
It is the lowest ever all out total at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. In the last World cup 2023 match at the venue, Australia piled up 367/9 while batting first. Pakistan finished the chase at 305 all-out in 45.3 overs to lose the match by 62 runs.

England's batting collapse in one of the most batting-friendly conditions in the world was nothing but appalling. The defending champions have given shockers one after the other in the ongoing tournament.
They lost their opening match by a massive 9-wicket margin. They lost to Afghanistan by 69 runs in their third match before going down by 209 runs - their biggest defeat in ODI format by runs - against South Africa.
Reeling at the eighth spot in the ten-team World Cup 2023 table, England look set to lose their fourth defeat in five matches. England's 156 is third lowest total in this edition of World Cup 2023. Netherlands were bundled out for 90 against Australia on Wednesday, while New Zealand rolled over Afghanistan for 139 runs only.
It is their third-lowest all out total in World Cup history. The lowest all out total for the Three Lions came back in 2015 when New Zealand ended their innings at 123. The second-lowest is against South Africa who restricted them to 154 in the 2007 World Cup.
England opener Jonny Bairstow was the second-highest run-scorer for his team. He scored 30 off 31 but could have been dismissed for a duck on the first ball of the match. Dilshan Madushanaka's in-swinging yorker delivery hit Bairstow's pad before hitting his bat and the ball going straight past the bowler.
The batters collected three runs and Sri Lanka decided against taking the review. Later, the replays showed pad first and three reds. Dawid Malan (28) and Ben Stokes (43) were the only two England batters who crossed the 20-run mark. A total of six batters lost their wicket for a six-digit score.
36-year-old Angelo Mathews, playing first first match of his fourth World Cup, drew first blood for Sri Lanka with the wicket of Malan and the young guns in the team ran riot after that.
Sri Lankan fielding was top notch and a massive add on which totally shook the confidence of already under-confident England. Joe Root (3) and Adil Rashid (2) were brilliantly ran out by the Sri Lanka fielders.
Right-arm pacer Lahiru Kumara was the pick of the Sri Lanka bowling unit. He registered figures of 3/35 and ran through the England middle-order, taking the wickets of captain Jos Buttler (8), Liam Livingstone (1) and Stokes. Mathews dismissed Moeen Ali (15) to finish with figures of 2/14 in five overs. He last bowled in an ODI match in March 2020.
