ENG vs WI: West Indies opener Brandon King was forced to leave due to a groin injury in the fifth over of his side's T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8 match against England at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in Gros Islet in St Lucia on Thursday, June 20.
Brandon King danced twice down the track on the first two deliveries of the fifth over from Sam Curran before he felt the discomfort. The right-hander was down on the ground after facing the second delivery and was attended by the West Indies physio.

Moments later, he decided to get retired hurt as Nicholas Pooran came out to bat at three. King scored 23 runs off 13 runs and helped West Indies score 54 runs without losing any wicket in the powerplay.
Brandon King has played all the five matches for West Indies in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. After scoring 34 runs in the opener against PNG, he registered scores of 13, 9 and 7 in the next three innings in the group stage.
Earlier during the West Indies, the umpires were forced to change the ball. On the third ball of the third over, England left-arm pacer Reece Topley bowled a full length delivery which was blasted by Brandon King over mid-wicket.
The ball landed on the roof of Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium before bouncing out of the facility. King had changed his bat moments before the gigantic hit.
Defending champions England won the toss and elected to bowl first in St Lucia. England brought in Mark Wood for Chris Jordan, while West Indies also made two changes. Roston Chase and Romario Shepherd came in for Shai Hope and Obed McCoy respectively.
