The 34-year-old Anderson is recovering from a shoulder injury. He is out of the Bangladesh tour too due to a stress fracture in his left shoulder. England play 2 Tests against Bangladesh with the opener starting tomorrow (October 20) in Chittagong.

Speaking to the media today (October 19) in Chittagong, Cook said Anderson will not be fit to play the first Test against India.

"I don't think he will be there (India) for the start. He might come out to do some training but he will not be ready to play in the first Test," said Cook. "I spoke to him last night. He has been doing a lot of training and is in good shape physically. The decision is going to be made over the next week on that (when he goes to India)," Cook was quoted as saying in "The Telegraph".

With 463 wickets in 119 Tests, Anderson is England's highest wicket-taker in the five-day format.
