England vs Australia 5th ODI Weather Forecast: Will Rain Play Spoilsport in Series Decider at Bristol?

By MyKhel Staff

Ashes rivals England and Australia will lock horns in the series decider when they cross paths in the fifth and final ODI at the Seat Unique Stadium in Bristol on Sunday (September 29).

Mitchell Marsh-led Australia went 2-0 up after convincing wins in the first two matches, but Harry Brook's England have responded brilliantly to level the series 2-2 with back to back wins in the rain-affected third and fourth ODIs.

England vs Australia 5th ODI faces rain threat

The series started without a blemish in terms of weather in the opening two matches at Trentbridge in Nottingham and Headingley at Leeds. But the two subsequent games at Seat Unique Riverside in Chester-le-Street and Lord's in London have been affected by rain.

While the third ODI saw rains arrive during England's chase, the fourth ODI was truncated after a delayed start. Fortunately for the home side, a result was possible in both the matches.

After going 0-2 down in the series, England rode on stand-in skipper Brook's maiden ODI century to win the third ODI by 46 runs (DLS method). The captain once again starred to claim a massive 186-run win in the 39-over per side contest.

Earlier, the third and final T20I series also was affected by rain and saw the teams share the spoils after the series ended 1-1. Will we see a similary scenario in the ODI series? Will rain play spoilsport in the England vs Australia 5th ODI? Here is all you need to know:

Bristol Weather Forecast on Sunday, September 29

There is once again a threat of rain in the fifth ODI, which is set to take place in Bristol today. According to BBC, there is forecast for rain from afternoon around 2 PM Local Time till midnight.

Rain prediction for Briston on September 29: There is 25 to 39 percent chance of rain from 2 PM to 4 PM, while the precentage increases to 76-80 for the remainder of the evening. So, there is every chance that the series decider could be set for a premature end.

With the start time set for 11 AM Local Time (3:30 PM IST), there is a chance of the first team playing most of their 50 overs, but as per the forecast, there is very slim chance that second innings will be a full 50-over chase.

Each team needs to play a minimum of 20 overs each to determine a result in an ODI. So, unless the weather permits as many overs for the team batting second, the chances of a result remain very bleak.
