Sadeera Samarawickrama (15*) hit Willey for a boundary while Nissanka (32*) belts Rasif for a four and six to add further pace to Lanka's chase. SL 64/2 in 11 overs
England gave themselves a bright start in their defense of 157-run target as David Willey removed Kusal Perera (4) and Kusal Mendis (11) inside the first five overs. However, Pathum Nissanka (18*) and Sadeera Samarawickrama (8*) have absorbed the pressure well since then and have added 20 runs in the next three overs to put Sri Lanka in a better position. Jos Buttler has now decided to introduce spin early in the attack as Adil Rashid is introduced in the 9th over. SL 43/2 in 8 overs, Target 157
Rashid's unfortunate run-out at the non-striker's end, due to a wide ball and the keeper's direct throw, added to England's woes. England is all out for 156 as Wood's stumping by Mendis marks the final wicket, leaving them in a precarious situation.
Ben Stokes is dismissed, attempting a pull shot but hitting it straight to the deep midwicket fielder. England loses its eighth wicket, and Stokes is out.

Ben Stokes edges for a boundary, then singles to deep cover. Liam Livingstone is given out leg before wicket, unsuccessfully reviewing as the ball would hit the bails. England faces trouble.
Jos Buttler begins the over with a boundary, narrowly avoiding a fielder's dive. Ben Stokes faces difficulties. Buttler is later out, edging a delivery to the wicketkeeper for a fantastic catch.
During Rajitha's over, Jonny Bairstow attempts to step out and hit the ball over mid-on. However, the bat turns in his hands, resulting in a straightforward catch for Dhananjaya de Silva at mid-on. Bairstow is dismissed.
Maheesh Theekshana, begins with a wide delivery. Jonny Bairstow manages to punch it to deep mid-wicket for a single. Joe Root attempts a shot to fine leg and looks for a single but is sent back by Bairstow. Unfortunately, there is a mix-up, and Root is run out.
