England will play hosts to Sri Lanka in a three-match Test series, which will be part of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 cycle, starting with first Test from Wednesday (August 21) in Manchester.
Old Trafford in Manchester will stage the series opener this week, while the action shifts to London for the remaining two matches - the second Test at Home of Cricket - Lord's on August 29 followed by the final Test at The Oval on September 6.

England will be without the services of their red ball skipper Ben Stokes, who injured himself during The Hundred tournament earlier this month. Vice captain Ollie Pope has been named as a stand-in captain for the series, but no replacement has been opted for the all-rounder.
Sri Lanka, on the other hand, will be led by Dhananjaya Da Silva with Kusal Mendis serving as his deputy. The visitors have handed a maiden call ups to pacer Milan Rathnayake and all-rounder Nisala Tharaka as they aim to push up the WTC standings in a tough series.
Sri Lanka (50 PCT) are placed fourth in the WTC Standings while England (36.54 PCT) are positioned sixth. England come into the series on the back of a 3-0 whitewash against West Indies at home, while Sri Lanka last played a Test back in March, when they won 2-0 away to Bangladesh.
Sri Lanka are set for their first visit to England for a Test series since 2016, but the two sides last played each other in the longest format three years ago in 2021 when England toured Sri Lanka. Here is all you need to know about the ENG vs SL 2024 series:
