This is Life! England's World Cup 2023 debacle epitomizes the need for change

By Abhay Apte

When the English Cricket team came to India, for the World Cup 2023, they were the defending champions and obviously one of the top contenders for winning this World Cup.

As the tournament progressed, they started losing the matches and it was said that "England has to play hard to qualify for the semi-finals."

But that did not happen and they kept losing the matches. As of today, they have lost 6 out of 7 matches. As a result, the defending champions are sitting right at the bottom of the table!

Now it is said that "England has to play hard to ensure that they at least qualify for the Champions Trophy 2025, "because only 8 teams (out of 10) will get qualified." Also read: Pune's MCA International Stadium finds its rightful place in cricket history

Unbelievable!! The team which was the World Cup Champion till exactly one month ago, are at the rock bottom of the table occupying the last, 10th place!

But what is true in sports is equally true in life. Yesterday's 'Champions' can become 'complete losers' today! In real life, unlike computers, there is no 'copy-paste' and past performance doesn't help you today. What really matters is how good you are today. Many of the earlier players in the 'Champion Team' are still in the English team but without the same impact!

That is why even the most powerful medicines have an expiry date! You need to watch for it and replace it at the right time.
