Alex Carey left without paying barber after haircut? Steve Smith gives strong reply

Australia are sailing comfortably in the ongoing Ashes series in England. The visitors are currently leading 2-0 after the first Two Tests in the series.

Although the Aussies have found it easy on the field against the English players, they are battling it hard to fend off the English media off the field.

Alex Carey

The English media has alleged Australian wicketkeeper Alex Carey of not paying after taking services before the 3rd Test in Leeds. Carey has been in news recently after controversially stumping Jonny Bairstow in the second Test, and now he seems to be further in trouble.

According to various media sources, the Australian keeper failed to pay his barber after taking a haircut in Leeds and left without paying.

According to The Sun, an English outlet, Carey and three of his Aussie teammates went for a haircut in Leeds but the southpaw couldn't pay £30 to the barber for not having enough cash.

Carey didn't pay after haircut: Barber Adam Mahmood

Adam Mahmood, a 39-year-old barber is reportedly willing to wait till the end of the 3rd Test for Carey to pay him up for the haircut. The barber said Marnus Labuschagne, David Warner and Usman Khawaja - who also took haircuts, paid him but Carey didn't.

"I'm still waiting. They all came in just before we shut. We cut their hair and had a great laugh. But we don't accept cards and Alex said he had no cash on him. Well, there's a Tesco cash machine literally round the corner he could have run to," Mahmood said The Sun.

The barber further said he won't be happy if Carey fails to pay him by the end of the Test match.

"Maybe he forgot. I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt but if it's not paid by Monday, I won't be happy," Mahmood added.

Alastair Cook, former England captain also revealed the same while commentating in the 3rd Test.

Get your facts rights: Steve Smith

But Australian batter Steve Smith has rubbished the report and has taken a strong stance against the English media and the former England captain Cook.

Smith took to the social media platform Threads and confirmed Carey is yet to take a haircut since landing in London. The Australian vice-captain also warned English media of spreading lies and advised them to get their facts right.

Steve Smith Threads

"I can confirm Alex Carey has not had a haircut since we were in London. Get your facts right The Sun," Smith wrote on Threads.
