New Delhi, Jul 22: Atul Wassan, ex-cricketer and television commentator was beaten black and blue at the Gurgaon-Delhi express toll on Jul 20.

Wassan became a victim of road rage while he was on his way home to Gurgaon. The incident occurred when the cricketer stopped at the Gurgaon-Delhi express toll plaza to pay toll.

He was beaten up by the Haryana Minister's guards on the grounds that his BMW dared to overtake their government vehicle from wrong side.

Two men dragged Wassan out of his car and started beating him. The injured cricketer was rushed to Safdarjung Hospital.

An FIR has been filed in the case. However, it is still unclear that the case will be handled by Haryana or Delhi Police.

According to reports the accused were all a Haryana Minister's, Officers on special duty(OSD).

"We have accepted the cricketer's complaint at the Vasant Kunj south police station. But the incident occurred on Haryana land, so the case has been transferred to the Haryana Police," said police officer, south district .

"The stretch from Shiv Murthi was full of trucks waiting to cross the toll plaza," said Wassan.

"I overtook the two cars while trying to overtake the trucks; but by the time I reached the toll gate, they caught up with me. Five men got out of the Gypsy and surrounded me. I had not locked my car, so they forced me out and started hitting me. There were over 50 policemen there, but no one dared to interfere; even drivers of other vehicles chose to ignore," he said adding he almost fainted.

"I somehow pulled myself up and reached home, which was only a five-minute drive from the spot.

"My wife called a doctor and he applied ice to lessen my pain. I was prescribed pain killers. I informed the police on Thursday after which my MLC was done," said Wassan.

Police, however, remained tight lipped on the whole issue.
