Sameer Rizvi, Uttar Pradesh batter and ex-Chennai Super Kings cricketer etched his name into the history books by scoring the quickest double century in the Men's U23 State A Trophy during their match against Tripura on Saturday.
Rizvi achieved the milestone in just 97 balls, hammering 13 fours and 20 sixes, propelling UP to a total of 405. They eventually secured a commanding 152-run victory in the contest.

The dynamic batter rose to fame when Chennai Super Kings acquired him for a hefty amount of ₹8.40 crore at the 2023 Indian Premier League auction.
During the 2024 season, he managed 51 runs across five innings, maintaining a strike rate of 118. In the subsequent mega auction, Delhi Capitals secured his services for ₹90 lakh.
Rizvi currently leads the scoring charts in the competition, amassing 518 runs from four matches. His recent performances, including an impressive 153 and an unbeaten 137, suggest that he is in peak form. Uttar Pradesh has won four of their six group-stage encounters so far.
His impressive performance will be a boost for the Capitals, who are expected to leverage his dynamic batting skills in the 2025 Indian Premier League season. The team will be focused on continuing their pursuit of their maiden IPL title.
Although the achievement is not recognized as an official record, Rizvi's double century would surpass the List-A milestone set by New Zealand's Chad Bowes, who made 205 off 110 balls. This also eclipses the previous record held by Narayan Jagadeesan and Travis Head, who both scored their double tons in 114 balls.
