Former Kolkata Knight Riders star Yusuf Pathan has joined politics, and he is set to be Trinamool Congress candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha Election in 2024.
Trinamool Congress released their candidates list for the upcoming General Election and the former India cricketer has been enlisted, much to the surprise of many.

Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee called for a 'Janagarjan Sabha' (Roar of People Assembly) in Kolkata on Sunday (March 10), and Yusuf Pathan's name has been confirmed as a candidate.
The 41-year-old will be contesting from the Behrampore (Baharampur) constituency, which has been a stronghold of the Indian National Congress (INC).
INC Bengal supremo Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury won the Berhampore sit in the General Election 2019, which was one of Congress' two seats.
Yusuf Pathan is popular in Bengal for his stint with the Kolkata Knight Riders, with whom he won two IPL trophies. The hard-hitting batter was popular for his six-hitting abilities, and Trinamool Congress would be expecting another clean strike from him in the elections.
Pathan also represented India in 57 ODIs and 22 T20Is between 2007 to 2012. He was part of the World Cup-winning teams in both 2007 and 2011, when India lifted the T20 World Cup and ODI World Cup respectively.
Some political analysts in Bengal told MyKhel exclusively that this move can be a major coup for TMC as they look to loosen the Congress grip in Baharampur. The Murshidabad city has always been graceful to Congress, but Pathan can be a masterstroke for Mamata Banerjee and Trinamool in this General Election.
