IPL 2024: Rohit Sharma coach Dinesh Lad reveals Mumbai Indians captaincy removal won't impact him

India captain Rohit Sharma has been released from his IPL captaincy duties as Mumbai Indians announced Hardik Pandya to be the new captain in IPL 2024.

Mumbai Indians, the five-time IPL champions, won all their titles under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, but decided to move forward with Hardik Pandya as the new skipper at the helm.

Hardik's return to MI was an indication, but him taking over the captaincy reins from Rohit at the Paltans was not the script people would have thought. Fans have expressed their shock and anger as Rohit was removed from the captaincy.

There have also been theories of conspiracy against Rohit Sharma which is circulating on social media. But will it have an impact on Rohit Sharma, just as a player in Mumbai Indians?

The 36-year-old lead the Paltans in ten seasons and won the IPL five times with them. But will playing under Hardik Pandya be an issue? Rohit's coach Dinesh Lad says it won't be a problem at all.

In an exclusive chat with MyKhel, coach Dinesh Lad said he heard the news from us first. And then when asked about if it will impact Rohit as a batter, Lad thinks there is no need for concern.

"I don't think he will have any problem. He is a cricket player and he doesn't think about captaincy. He wanted to play cricket. So playing under Hardik, I don't think it is going to cause any issue for him," Lad said to MyKhel.

Rohit's childhood coach was quite nonchalant when asked if it was the right decision from Mumbai Indians as he said the decision came from the MI and he had nothing to say regarding the move from the five-time IPL champions.

Rohit Sharma is with the Mumbai Indians for the IPL 2024 and is likely to play a central part for the Paltans in the upcoming season. The India captain will be hoping for a better outing as a batter than the last two seasons, where he managed only 332 (2023) and 268 (2022) runs.
