Exclusive: Why did MS Dhoni never shift to Mumbai from Ranchi?

In the world of cricket, it's common for cricketers to relocate to major cities like Mumbai, not only because of its status as a cricketing hub but also due to its association with the glamour industry.

However, former Indian captain MS Dhoni chose to remain rooted in his hometown, Ranchi, despite his international fame. Former BCCI secretary Sanjay Patel while interacting with MyKhel, revealed the reason why Dhoni never shifted to Mumbai.

"Dhoni told me that he is a Ranchi boy and it does make sense for him to shift there. He doesn't mind going to Mumbai for work. But this deep connection to his roots and his preference for a life away from the limelight show what kind of man Dhoni is," Patel told MyKhel.

Indeed, a rare trait that Dhoni possess. "Dhoni's choice reflects his grounded personality and commitment to his origins, setting him apart in an era where many are drawn to the allure of major metropolitan centers," Patel said while praising Dhoni, who is getting ready for another IPL season for the Chennai Super Kings.

Dhoni, renowned for his disciplined lifestyle, has consistently maintained a focused approach during his cricketing commitments. While playing for CSK in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Dhoni is known to adhere to a strict routine, limiting his activities to commuting between the ground and the hotel. "This disciplined regimen reflects his commitment to the sport and his preference for staying away from unnecessary distractions," Patel said.
