Smoke, Panic and an Emergency Stop: Gujarat Titans Escape Bus Scare After IPL Final
The IPL 2026 final ended on a sour note for Gujarat Titans both on and off the field.
Hours after suffering a five-wicket defeat to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Ahmedabad, the Titans were involved in a transport scare when their team bus reportedly suffered an electrical short circuit while returning from the Narendra Modi Stadium.

What Happened to the Gujarat Titans Bus after the IPL Final?
According to reports, an air-conditioning unit inside the Gujarat Titans team bus developed an electrical fault late on Sunday night.
The short circuit caused smoke to spread through the vehicle, forcing players and support staff to evacuate as a precautionary measure.
Fortunately, there was no fire and no injuries were reported.
Players and staff reportedly waited by the roadside for close to an hour before an alternative bus was arranged to take them safely back to the team hotel.
Who Was On The Bus?
Several members of the Gujarat Titans squad, including Mohammed Siraj, Washington Sundar and Anrich Nortje, were reportedly among those affected by the incident.
The franchise has not reported any injuries, with all players and staff reaching their destination safely.
A Tough End To A Difficult Week for Gujarat Titans
The bus incident capped a challenging few days for Gujarat Titans.
The team had already dealt with travel disruptions during the playoffs. Their movement between Dharamsala, Mullanpur and Ahmedabad was affected by adverse weather conditions, leading to delayed travel schedules ahead of the final.
GT then lost the title clash to RCB after posting 155/8 and watching Virat Kohli and company complete the chase with relative comfort.
Gujarat Titans Fans React: "What A Cursed Day"
The incident quickly sparked reactions across social media, with many fans describing it as the latest setback in a difficult week for the franchise.
One fan wrote:
"After losing the game, their bus had a short circuit. The day itself is cursed man, everything going wrong."
Another supporter focused on the team's hectic schedule:
"God please give my team a break. From the delayed flights to losing the game and now this."
A third fan simply expressed relief that nobody was hurt:
"What a cursed final day. Thank God everyone is safe."
No Serious Damage Reported
Despite the alarming images and reports of smoke, multiple reports indicated that the incident was caused by a simple electrical fault rather than a major fire.
The most important outcome for Gujarat Titans was that all players and staff escaped unharmed.
After a heartbreaking loss in the IPL final, the bus scare was an unwanted final chapter to the Titans' 2026 campaign-but one that thankfully ended without injury.
