Fact-Check: Did Dewald Brevis Hit Massive 114 Metre Six During GT vs CSK IPL 2025 Match?

Dewald Brevis, the young South African batting sensation, turned heads yet again with a jaw-dropping 114-metre six-but not during the actual IPL 2025 match between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Gujarat Titans (GT).

The massive hit came during the post-match Super Sixes Challenge, not in official gameplay.

Dewald Brevis

Brevis, often referred to as "Baby AB" for his uncanny resemblance to AB de Villiers' style, showcased his raw power during the exhibition event held after CSK's final league fixture at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 25. The six cleared the boundary by a significant margin, adding another feather to the 21-year-old's rapidly growing reputation.

While the 114-metre maximum was not part of the official game, Brevis still lit up the night with a scintillating performance in CSK's final IPL 2025 match. The right-handed batter smashed a 23-ball 57, including five sixes and four boundaries, helping CSK pile on a daunting total of 230/5 in their allotted 20 overs.

New Zealand's Devon Conway anchored the innings with a well-compiled 52 off 35 balls, while Prasidh Krishna stood out for GT with the ball, returning impressive figures of 2/22 from four overs.

Despite the dominant 83-run win over Gujarat Titans, CSK ended their season on a sour note, finishing 10th in the points table for the first time in franchise history. Their playoff hopes had already been dashed prior to the final fixture, marking one of the most underwhelming campaigns for the five-time champions.

In the bowling department, young pacer Anshul Kamboj stole the limelight with figures of 3/13, helping CSK bundle out GT for 147 in just 18.3 overs.

Yes, Dewald Brevis did smash a mammoth 114-metre six-but it occurred during the Super Sixes Challenge held after the match, not in the official encounter between CSK and GT. Regardless, it was yet another reminder of the explosive potential that the young batter brings to the table, and why he could be a key figure in CSK's future rebuilding plans.
