Agni Dev Chopra, the 27-year-old son of acclaimed Bollywood director Vidhu Vinod Chopra and critic Anupama Chopra, was reported to have entered the fray for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026 player auction.
A Detroit-born US passport holder, Agni was said to have signed up as an overseas associate player representing the United States, setting a modest base price of PKR 600,000 (around ₹1.9 lakh or $2,100). His name was visible in the PSL auction list on the Pakistan Cricket Board website.

The reports created widespread debate. Agni, despite holding a US passport, has Indian roots and the move to play in the PSL came as a shock to many. No Indian origin player has ever played in the Pakistan Super League, and he would have been the first to do so.
But the player has robustly dismissed all the claims of him registering in the PSL. He took to social media and claimed the reports to be fake and baseless, thus entirely putting the matter to rest.
"Fake and misleading reports are being circulated in my name regarding a tournament. I would like to clarify that I have not enrolled for the PSL. I remain fully focused on my cricket journey in the USA and my long-term career goals. I request everyone not to fall prey to misinformation," Agni Dev wrote on his Instagram story.

His mother later shared his Instagram story which further strengthened the claim despite reports suggesting that he registered for the PSL.
