Faf Du Plessis has missed three matches of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season, but his team has managed to win two of those games, including recent outing against Rajasthan Royals on Wednesday (April 16) in New Delhi.
Apart from the super over victory over RR, the South African batter also missed the win against his former side Chennai Super Kings before missing the defeat to Mumbai Indians at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. In his three innings for DC, Du Plessis has amassed 83 runs with the best of a fifty.

While he scored a fifty against Sunrisers Hyderabad, the 40-year-old made 29 in DC's season-opening win against Lucknow Super Giants followed by a rare lapse in the victory over his other former team Royal Challengers Bengaluru, against whom he managed to score just 2 runs.
The ex Proteas captain revealed that the rushed return for the RCB clash after missing the clash against CSK as the possible reason for aggravating his injury. While he has not made a great impact with the bat, DC could do with the veteran batter's return as there is some concern around Jake Fraser-McGurk's form.
The nature of the injury is yet to be disclosed, but there was at least some clarity on his fitness timeline and possible return date after DC beat RR in the super over on Wednesday (April 16) night when DC captain faced the media for a post-match press conference.
Faf Du Plessis injury update: The South African has not played since coming on as an impact substitute during DC's clash against RCB in Bengaluru on April 10, which is nearly a week away.
Ahead of the Mumbai Indians match, Du Plessis aimed to return within a week. However, the opening batter did not feature against DC. Now, in the latest fitness update provided by DC captain Axar, Du Plessis' return to action is just around the corner.
Although he is not sure about his fitness, Axar is hoping that Du Plessis will be available for Delhi Capitals' next game against Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday (April 19).
"I had been told that he wouldn't be able to play three matches - that's the time he needs to recover - and two matches are done.Maybe he will play the Gujarat game. But the physio has to confirm how his rehab has been going," Axar said at the post-match press conference as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.
