Former South Africa batter Faf du Plessis may soon return to the international fold, according to reports.
Du Plessis, who retired from international cricket in 2021 is poised to make a comeback in the South Africa white ball squad and have had talks with their white ball coach Rob Walter. Du Plessis last played a T20I match in 2021, while his final ODI appearance for the Proteas came in South Africa's disastrous 2019 World Cup.
Du Plessis has been in fantastic form in the T20 franchise leagues, as he was the second-highest run-scorer in the recently-concluded SA20, scoring 369 runs at an average of 41 and a strike rate of 147.6 for Joburg Super Kings.
His sublime form created speculations of him returning in national colours, and Du Plessis may oblige to those speculations soon. The player himself announced last week in a podcast that he is keen to have a chat with South Africa coach Rob Walter and discuss his possible return to the national team.

"I'm actually looking forward to having a conversation with the new head coach," Du Plessis said.
"Not about me actually, I think what's really important for South African cricket everyone wants the best for South African cricket, so if you can pull in all the guys that have been around the team for a while and make sure we invest as much as we can into making sure that Protea team is as strong as it can be," he added.
"From what I've heard, both of them are keen to make sure that we pull all the strong cricket brains into one hat and make sure we get the South African team to where it needs to be," Du Plessis further said.
South Africa have two different coaches in different formats as Rob Walter is their coach in the limited-overs format, while Shukri Conrad is their red ball coach. It has to be seen whether Du Plessis is picked up for the upcoming T20I squad for South Africa against West Indies, which is set to be announced on Monday.
Du Plessis will be gearing up for the upcoming IPL as he is a part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore team. The 38-year-old was appointed as the RCB captain after Virat Kohli announced to leave his captaincy role. He plays for Perth Scorchers in the BBL, while
