Pakistan star Fakhar Zaman has put an end to swirling retirement speculations, confirming that he is far from calling it quits. Addressing the buzz on social media, Zaman stated that while he did consider taking a break due to health concerns, his commitment to cricket remains strong, with a return to action expected within a month.
In a video statement, the explosive left-hander reassured fans that he is focused on making a comeback, particularly in white-ball cricket.

"Yes, I have heard the rumours. Many of my friends texted me about it, but there is no truth to it. The media can say whatever they want. The ODI format is my favourite, and I want to continue playing all three formats," Zaman clarified in a video shared by PCB.
Earlier, reports suggested that Zaman was considering retirement from ODI cricket after being ruled out of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. A Samaa TV report claimed that the southpaw had already discussed his plans with close associates, hinting at a possible exit from 50-over cricket. The primary reason cited was his ongoing battle with hyperthyroidism, which has sidelined him for over two months.
Zaman, who has amassed 3,651 runs in 86 ODIs at an impressive average of 46.21 with 11 centuries, was expected to be a key player for Pakistan in the Champions Trophy. However, he suffered an injury early in the tournament and was ruled out.
Reports also indicated that Zaman was growing increasingly frustrated with selection matters, particularly regarding No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for overseas league participation. The left-hander had recently featured in the ILT20, further fuelling speculation about his future in Pakistan cricket.
Adding to the uncertainty, sources claimed that Zaman was contemplating relocating his family abroad, signaling potential long-term changes in his professional life. However, no official statement has been issued by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) regarding his potential retirement.
Despite these reports, Zaman remains determined to return to competitive cricket soon. "I thought about taking some time off due to my thyroid condition, but I'll be back in a month," he confirmed, keeping his fans hopeful.
With his explosive batting style and experience, Zaman's return will be a massive boost for Pakistan in upcoming white-ball assignments. As he sets his sights on a strong comeback, ODI and T20 fans can expect fireworks from the seasoned opener once he steps back onto the field.
