Fans call Team India victory as blessing of 'Ganapati bappa'

Pune, Sep 24 (UNI) Cricket fever coupled with chants of 'Ganapati bappa morya' echoed at every fall of a Pakistani wicket, as devotees abandoned the Ganapati mandals to watch the Twenty20 World Cup Cricket final between India and Pakistan at Johannesberg in South Africa.

Some sarvajanik mandals had even arranged special TV sets to attract and keep the crowds from drifting.

The city which has over 4,500 Ganapati mandals probabably witnessed the quietest Ganapati festvities on as streets displayed a deserted under the spell of cricket fever.

Victory fever gripped Nashikites also as every nook and corner of the city was overflowing with people celebrating India's victory.

As Jogindar Sharma took the final wicket of Pakistan's Misbah-ul-Haq and sealed the much-awaited World Cup victory after 24 long years, people started dancing to the tunes of dhol, orchestra and music by DJs.

People started greeting each other and were rejoicing in the moment by bursting firecrackers and distributing sweets.

Some people under mere superstition did not move from seats thinking that their act might bring bad luck to Team India.

Many areas of the city such as Nashik Road, Satpur, Panchavati and CIDCO witnessed the victory celebrations. Even parts of the district also celebrated the victory.

Cricket enthusiasts all over Maharashtra beleived that Lord Ganesha blessed Indian Team with the victory to end the ten days celebrations on a high.
