Farmer's son McGrath still loves to go back to his birthplace

Sydney, Apr 28 (UNI) Eighteen years after Glenn McGrath left his bithplace Bourke with a dream of wearing the 'Baggy Green' cap one day, it seems there is still a little bit of bush left in this Narromine-raised farmer's son.

As the 'Pigeon' gets ready for one last hurrah, the World Cup's leading wicket-taker has revealed that despite living happily at Cronulla, the call of the bush remains as strong as ever.

''When I left I was 19. I was ready for a change but the longer I was away from it the more I enjoy getting back,'' the lanky speedster said.

''My property at Bourke is so far away from everything I find it really relaxing and I only need four or five days there then I am recharged and ready to go again,'' the 'Herald Sun' quoted him as saying.

When asked how he would tackle life beyond cricket, an uncertain McGrath was clarly stumped.

''There's nothing concrete at the moment. The main thing is to enjoy the time at home with Jane and the kids and get away from cricket for a while,'' he said.

''It will be good to relax for a while. I feel my life is on hold while I play my cricket,'' McGrath concluded.
