Fazalhaq Farooqi Outlines His Goal To Defend MI Emirates' Title In DP World ILT20 Season 3

Fazalhaq Farooqi, a key player for MI Emirates, is set to make a significant impact in the upcoming DP World ILT20 Season 3. With an impressive record of 17 wickets in eight matches last season, Farooqi aims to help his team defend their title in this highly competitive T20 league.

Farooqi emphasised the importance of maintaining their championship status, stating, "Everyone knows that MI Emirates were the champions last season, and the job of a champion is to defend the title. Our focus is to ensure that we emerge as champions again this season." His determination reflects the team's commitment to success.

The previous season of DP World ILT20 saw intense competition among teams. The top two teams were tied at 12 points, while the third and fourth teams had 10 points each, separated only by net run rate. Farooqi noted that with eight to nine international players per team, the competition level is exceptionally high.

Farooqi believes performing well in such challenging conditions boosts a player's confidence significantly. He stated, "If a player performs well in such challenging situations, it’s a huge boost to their confidence. It helps them grow further and improve their game." This environment fosters player development and skill enhancement.

Reflecting on his performance last season, Farooqi expressed his ambition for Season 3: "Last season was fantastic for me, and my aim this season is to perform at the same level. I want to utilize my skills effectively and contribute as much as I can. My goal is to deliver strong performances throughout the season, take the team to victory and win the White Belt."

Farooqi also acknowledged his teammates' achievements. Muhammed Waseem won the Blue Belt for Best UAE Player consecutively, while Muhammad Rohid shone as a fast bowler. Farooqi remarked on how competing in such a prestigious league benefits UAE players' growth.

The role of fans is crucial for MI Emirates' success. Farooqi urged supporters to back the team passionately: "To all MI Emirates fans, I urge you to come out and support the team wholeheartedly. Your backing makes a big difference for us." Their first match against Dubai Capitals on 13 January at Zayed Cricket Stadium promises excitement.

The DP World ILT20 Season 3 will feature renowned T20 stars like Andre Russell and Sunil Narine from Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, Alex Hales from Desert Vipers, David Warner from Dubai Capitals, among others. These players add immense value and excitement to the tournament.

New Additions and Tournament Schedule

This season welcomes new talents like Fakhar Zaman with Desert Vipers and Shai Hope with Dubai Capitals making their debuts. The tournament runs from 11 January to 9 February 2025, promising thrilling cricket action across various venues.

Returning players include Jason Roy with Sharjah Warriorz after playing for Abu Dhabi Knight Riders last year. The inclusion of Gus Atkinson strengthens Sharjah Warriorz further as he returns after playing ten games for Desert Vipers in Season 1.
