FIFA President Gianni Infantino congratulated the International Cricket Council (ICC) Chairman Jay Shah for the successful organisation of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026.
India scripted history on March 8, 2026, defeating New Zealand by 96 runs in the T20 World Cup final at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium.

Batting first, India posted a record-breaking 255/5 in the final, powered by Sanju Samson's explosive 89 off 46 balls, Abhishek Sharma's quick 52, and Ishan Kishan's 54. Shivam Dube provided late fireworks. Jasprit Bumrah then dismantled New Zealand with 4/15, while Axar Patel claimed 3 wickets, bowling them out for 159. This marked India's third T20 World Cup title (after 2007 and 2024), making them the first team to win three times, defend the crown successfully, and triumph on home soil.
Sharing a photo of himself holding the Indian jersey on his social media handle, Infantino also congratulated the Indian cricket team on winning a record third Men's T20 World Cup title.
"Congratulations to the ICC and my friend Jay Shah for another wonderfully organised T20 World Cup. Many congratulations to India for another title. Having visited your wonderful country, I know how much this means to you," Infantino wrote on social media.
Jay Shah was present at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and witnessed the carnage from the Indian side. He was also the one who presented the trophy to India captain Suryakumar Yadav.
