Five Players Who Can Ensure T20 World Cup 2024 Spot With Their Performance in IPL 2024

The IPL 2024 is fast approaching and eyes will be on the biggest T20 league as the T20 World Cup 2024 in the West Indies and the USA will follow immediately after it.

India have currently locked horns with Afghanistan in a 3-match T20I series. India play no T20I matches after the series. They directly face Ireland on June 5 in the T20 World Cup 2024 after that.

Quite naturally the IPL 2024 matches would be a key event for the Indian players. Their performances could directly impact their chances of featuring in India's T20 World Cup 2024 squad.

While someone like Suryakumar Yadav, and Rinku Singh are directly expected to walk in the squad, a few players will look to shine consistently throughout the course of the tournament to keep the selectors engaged.

Here's the list of five India players who will aim for a T20 World Cup 2024 berth with their performance in the IPL 2024.

Shivam Dube: The Mumbai all-rounder earned his way back in the Indian squad with his performance in the IPL 2023. He has done well in the limited opportunities he has got since. The 30-year-old won Man of the Match award for his unbeaten 60 off 40 balls and one wicket in his two-over spell in which he gave away just nine runs in the first T20I against Afghanistan.

Dube has got the perfect guide in MS Dhoni at Chennai Super Kings (CSK). He gave Shivam Dube the opportunity to bat up the order and go all guns blazing. Dube has laid out the foundation for his selection in the ICC mega event, a solid campaign in the IPL 2024 will put a stamp on it.

Yuzvendra Chahal: The leg-spinner is the leading wicket-taker for India in the T20Is. However, opportunities have become rare for him. The 33-year-old last played a T20I match in August 2023. In fact, he hasn't been included in India's T20I squad after the World Cup 2023.

Chahal finished his IPL 2023 campaign as the fifth-highest (21) wicket-taker. He was the highest wicket-taker (27) in the IPL 2022. Another stellar run in the IPL could create a chance for him to play in the T20 World Cup 2024.

Sanju Samson: An ODI hundred in South Africa, helped Sanju Samson earn his way back in India's T20I squad for the Afghanistan series. However, Jitesh Sharma played ahead of him in the first match.

Samson was in contention to play in the World Cup 2023, but failed to make a cut in the end. The Kerala batting star would not want to miss out on a World Cup berth again. The Rajasthan Royals (RR) can make a serious claim for a spot with his performance in the IPL 2024.

KL Rahul: Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have made their T20I comeback after a gap of 14 months, however, KL Rahul is yet to return to the set up. Rahul, who was India'a captain in the ODI series against South Africa, also played his last T20I match in November 2022.

Rahul has often been accused of a slow strike rate in the format. Also, he opens in the IPL. India have as many as three openers already in contention. Rahul has made himself a force to reckon in the middle-order when it comes to ODI and Test cricket. But can he do the same in the T20Is?

Reports have suggested that KL Rahul is planning to play in the middle-order in the IPL 2024. Eyes will be on the star wicketkeeper-batter in the upcoming months.

Rishabh Pant: It won't be easy for Pant who is still recovering after the horrific car accident which he suffered in December 2022. Once the brightest star of Indian cricket, Pant is looking for a strong comeback.

A lot of question marks surround him, and the fighting spirit of the wicketkeeper-batter will be tested. Can he have a magical IPL 2024 campaign, and barge into India's T20 World Cup 2024 squad?
