Former England batsman Butcher approached by ICL

London, Aug 23 (UNI) Former England batsman Mark Butcher has been approached by breakaway Indian Cricket League (ICL)to captain one of its teams, a British media report claimed.

'The Times' reported that besides Butcher, two more county players -- Ireland wicketkeeper Niall O'Brien and Warwickshire all-rounder Neil Carter -- have also received offers for the Essel-promoted league.

Butcher, who made the last of his 71 Test appearances in 2004, has been identified by former England captain Tony Greig.

Meanwhile, Northamptonshire said they will discuss the implications of former South Africa Test star Lance Klusner's signing with ICL at their committee meeting next month.

Chief Executive Mark Tagg said, ''If he (Klusener) does not play in this, I assume he will play in South Africa.

I don't know if there is any difference.'' UNI
