Former England Star Set to Join Chennai Super Kings Coaching Staff Ahead of IPL 2026

Former England wicketkeeper-batter James Foster is set to join Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as their fielding coach for the IPL 2026 season, strengthening the franchise's coaching setup under head coach Stephen Fleming.

Foster, 45, represented England in seven Tests, 11 ODIs and five T20Is between 2001 and 2009. The experienced coach is expected to link up with the CSK camp later this month.

"We have been looking for a fielding coach. I am hopeful he will join us," CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan confirmed.

Foster brings extensive coaching experience across global franchise leagues. He previously worked as fielding coach with Kolkata Knight Riders and has also been part of coaching setups at Desert Vipers in the ILT20, Northern Superchargers in The Hundred, and Pakistan Super League side Peshawar Zalmi.

Chennai Super Kings Strengthen Support After Poor IPL 2025

Foster will join an established support team led by Stephen Fleming. The CSK coaching group also includes Mike Hussey (batting coach), Eric Simons (bowling coach), Sridharan Sriram (assistant bowling coach), and Rajiv Kumar, who currently works as a fielding coach. Russell Radhakrishnan serves as the team manager.

The move comes as CSK aim to bounce back after a disappointing IPL 2025 campaign, where the five-time champions finished bottom of the table with just four wins from 14 matches.

Chennai Super Kings Begin Pre-Season Preparations

Chennai Super Kings have already begun their pre-season camp for Indian players at the franchise's high-performance centre. Several domestic players, including MS Dhoni and Ayush Mhatre, are currently training with the squad.

Players involved in international duty, including Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube, are expected to join the camp later. Shreyas Gopal will also link up with the team after completing his Ranji Trophy commitments.

CSK made headlines earlier with a blockbuster trade involving Rajasthan Royals, swapping Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran for Sanju Samson - who recently scored a match-winning 97* against West Indies to guide India into the T20 World Cup semi-finals.

With reinforcements both on and off the field, Chennai Super Kings are aiming to mount a strong comeback in IPL 2026.
