Former India captain Sourav Ganguly inducted in ICC Hall of Fame, But He's Not the Only Indian
Former India captain Sourav Ganguly received one of cricket's highest accolades on Saturday (July 11) when he was formally inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame during a glittering ceremony in Edinburgh.
The Class of 2026 also includes England's Kevin Pietersen and former India women's captain Anjum Chopra, taking the total number of inductees to 125.

The announcement came as a birthday gift on July 8, 2026, when Ganguly turned 54. And on Saturday, the former India captain was formally inducted among the prestigious luminaries.

Born on July 8, 1972, in Kolkata, Ganguly made a sensational Test debut against England in 1996 with centuries in his first two innings.
Nicknamed "Dada" and the "God of the Offside," the elegant left-hander scored 7,212 runs in 113 Tests (average 42.17, 16 centuries) and 11,363 runs in 311 ODIs (average 41.02, 22 centuries), plus 100 ODI wickets with his medium pace.
As captain from 2000 to 2005, following the match-fixing scandal, Ganguly rebuilt the team with aggression and belief. Key achievements include the 2001 home series win over Australia, the first Test series victory in Pakistan (2004), the 2002 NatWest Trophy triumph in England, joint Champions Trophy win (2002), and reaching the 2003 ODI World Cup final. The Bengal-born has been known for his revolutionary leadership, which took Indian cricket out of a dark era.
He also served as the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), president of the BCCI, and is currently the head coach of Delhi Capitals in the IPL.
Indian Players in ICC Hall of Fame
Ganguly became the 12th Indian overall and the 10th Indian men's cricketer to earn this honour, joining legends of Indian cricket.
Previously, Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Kapil Dev, Anil Kumble, Vinoo Mankad, Virender Sehwag, MS Dhoni, Bishan Singh Bedi, Diana Edulji, and Neetu David have been bestowed with the honour.
Currently, 13 Indian players have found themselves in the ICC Hall of Fame, including Ganguly and Chopra.
