Former Ranji trophy player Ohri dead
New Delhi, July 31 (UNI) Former cricketer RK Ohri, who led Services in the Ranji trophy from 1976 to 1980, died here in an accident.
Ohri died when he slipped from the third floor of his flat at Alaknanda apartments at South Delhi while going for a walk. Sixty five-year-old Ohri played in 19 Ranji Trophy matches and after taking a premature retirment from the Air force joined the Sports Authority of India (SAI).
Until his death Ohri was working as a coach at Saket Club run by the DDA.
Former India captain Bishen Singh Bedi, a close friend of Ohri, expressed his deep shock and anguish at his sudden death.
Talking to UNI from London, Bedi said ''Ohri was a gem of a person, a fine sportsman who was always ready to help budding cricketers.'' ''I have lost a friend whom I admired most and I will miss him'' Bedi added.
