Former Zimbabwe Cricketer, who slept with crocodile under his bed in 2013, survives leopard attack this time

Former Zimbabwe cricketer Guy Whittall cheated death once again by surviving a leopard attack this Tuesday, Whittall was trekking through the conservancy that he runs in the Humani region of the country, when the leopard attacked him.

The 51-year-old managed to survive the attack with the help of his pet dog Chikara. However, the former all-rounder was injured severely, and had to be airlifted to Harare for treatment. The dog was also bitten while trying to save Whittall.

"… Guy’s run in with a wounded leopard earlier today. We are very fortunate that he was stabilized at Hippo Clinic by wonderful staff. He was then airlifted from Buffalo Range by ace ambulance to Harare, then transferred to Milton Park Hospital for treatment. He is currently awaiting surgery tomorrow morning as he lost a lot of blood today,” Guy Whittall's wife Hannah wrote on Facebook.

“Our faithful K9 Chikara, his handler and trackers. Chikara coming up tomorrow to the vet after being mauled by the leopard and getting the cat off Guy! Very special boy,” she added.

In 2013, Guy Whittall unknowingly spent the entire night with a eight-foot, 165kg Nile crocodile under his bed. As per reports, Whittall had slept the whole night with his legs dangling off the bed.

"The really disconcerting thing about the whole episode is the fact that I was sitting on the edge of the bed that morning, bare foot and just centimetres away from the croc," Whittall had said back then as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.

Guy Whittall played from 1993 to 2003 for Zimbabwe. He played a total of 46 Test matches and scored 2207 runs at an average of 29.42. He smashed four hundreds and also picked 51 wickets in the format.

He also featured in 147 ODIs and scored to score 2705 runs and pick 88 wickets. He made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka in Patna, India.
