From Anushka Sharma to Sakshi Dhoni: 5 Times Cricketers’ Wives Hit Back at Trolls Like True Champions!

If you’ve ever felt like someone was unfairly throwing shade at you online, you’re not alone. But imagine being the spouse of a famous cricketer, constantly bombarded with critiques and harsh comments about your partner’s performance. It’s a tough world out there, but some wives have mastered the art of defending their husbands with style, grace, and a bit of fire!

On that note, here are five instances where the wives of cricketers stepped up and gave the trolls a taste of their own medicine.

From Anushka Sharma to Sakshi Dhoni 5 Times Cricketers Wives Hit Back at Trolls Like True Champions

1. Anushka Sharma

Anushka Sharma, Bollywood star and wife of Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli, has been a target of trolling for a while. But she doesn’t take things lying down. During the 2019 World Cup, former cricketer Farokh Engineer made an unnecessary dig at her presence in the dressing room, suggesting that Indian selectors were more focused on serving her tea than on the game.

Anushka wasn’t having any of it. In a powerful Twitter post, she clarified that she attended only one match and was sitting in the family box, not the selectors’ box.

She told the trolls to keep her name out of their baseless opinions and called out the unnecessary controversy. Engineer eventually apologized, saying his comments were aimed at the selectors, not Anushka.

2. Mayanti Langer

When Stuart Binny’s cricket career hit a rough patch, one Twitter troll thought it was fair game to mock him – and his wife, sports anchor Mayanti Langer – claiming that Stuart was just "carrying her baggage" since he wasn’t playing for the national team anymore. But Mayanti, who’s no stranger to the limelight, wasn’t going to let the critic get away with it.

In a witty and sharp reply, she said that she could carry her own baggage, thank you very much.

Mayanti’s response was a reminder that a strong partnership isn’t weighed down by petty comments.

3. Sakshi Dhoni

MS Dhoni is a cricketing legend, but even legends can’t escape the gossip mills. During the COVID-19 pandemic, some media outlets started questioning Dhoni’s small donation to the PM-Cares Fund, compared to other cricketers’ larger contributions. But Sakshi Dhoni, his wife, wasn’t about to let false news fly without a response.

She took to Twitter, calling out the media for spreading lies during such a sensitive time. She reminded everyone that responsible journalism seemed to have gone out the window and urged people to stop spreading misinformation.

4. Narjis Amir

When Pakistan’s Mohammad Amir was going through a tough phase in his career, some fans started questioning his loyalty and commitment to his country. That’s when his wife, Narjis Amir, stepped in. With a fierce tweet, she told the world that they didn’t owe anyone an explanation about Amir’s dedication to Pakistan.

Narjis wasn’t having anyone question her husband’s integrity – she set the record straight with her no-nonsense reply.

5. Sanjana Ganesan

When Jasprit Bumrah posted an adorable video with his wife, Sanjana Ganesan, trolls quickly found a way to rain on their parade. One Twitter user tried to fat-shame Sanjana, calling her "moti" (fat).

Sanjana responded with a sassy, yet clever, retort: “School ki science textbook toh yaad hoti nahi hai tumse, bada auraton ke bodies ke baare mein comment kar raho ho. Bhaago yaha se." Translation? “You can’t even remember your school science textbooks, yet you’re commenting on women’s bodies. Get lost!”

The internet erupted in praise of Sanjana for delivering a knockout punch to the troll.

Whether it’s standing up for their man’s honor or simply setting the record straight, these women have proven that love and loyalty are just as important off the field as they are on it.
