Test cricket is often considered the most challenging format in the game without the shadow of a doubt and scoring centuries in this format is not that easy. Bangladesh cricket has witnessed several of its cricketers rise to the occasion and build formidable records in red-ball cricket.

Overall, only ten players from Bangladesh have scored centuries in the longest format. Among them, only three players have hit 10 or more centuries in Test cricket. Let's take a look at the top seven century-makers for Bangladesh in the longest format.

With 13 centuries to his name, the 33-year-old has been the backbone of the Bangladesh middle order since his Test debut in 2013. Across 65 games and 120 innings, he garnered 4263 runs at an average of 38.75, with his highest score being 181. He has been a consistent performer and often stepped up when Bangladesh needed stability.

2. Mushfiqur Rahim - 11 centuries: Mushfiqur Rahim, who is one of Bangladesh’s most experienced players mustered 11 centuries in the longest format. The veteran who has been a true warrior at the crease has played 92 matches wherein he scored 5924 runs at an average of 38.46, registering his highest score of 219*. Having batted in 169 innings, he has become one of the integral pillars in Bangladesh’s Test lineup.

3. Tamim Iqbal - 10 centuries: Considered among one of the greatest Bangladeshi batters, Tamim Iqbal comes third on the list as he smashed as many as 10 Test hundreds across 70 games. Tamim has scored 5134 runs at an average of 38.89, registering his best score of 206. Over the years, he has given the team cracking starts and laid the platform for many memorable Test wins.

4. Mohammad Ashraful - 6 Centuries: Despite his cricketing career being cut short, Mohammad Ashraful still remains an iconic figure in Bangladesh cricket. Overall, he has hit 6 centuries across 61 games. He was once Bangladesh’s brightest talent given the way he went about his work. He mustered 2737 runs in his Test career and his highest score of 190 came at a time when Bangladesh needed a leader with the bat. His batting average of 24.00 may not reflect his potential but his pivotal contributions in his early Test years remain invaluable.

5. Najmul Hossain Shanto - 5 Centuries: Najmul Hossain Shanto who is one of the rising stars in Bangladesh cricket comes next on the list with 5 Test centuries. The 26-year-old who looks set to be a key player in the future, scored 1672 runs at an average of 29.33 in 31 matches so far. While still early in his career, Shanto is expected to score more centuries in the years to come. He has got the potential to dig deep and convert his starts into hundreds. Shanto registered his career-best score of 163.

6. Mahmudullah - 5 Centuries: Mahmudullah who is best known for his potential to play under pressure situations has officially announced his retirement from Tests in November 2021. Despite the fact that he was more recognized for his contributions in limited-overs cricket, he has also made a significant impact in Tests. Overall, he scored 2914 runs at an average of 33.49, scoring 5 centuries across 50 matches, registering his highest score of 150 not out*.

7. Shakib Al Hasan - 5 Centuries: Shakib Al Hasan, who is acknowledged as one of the world's premier all-rounders has delivered the goods heavily with the bat in Tests, scoring 5 centuries to his credit. Shakib has amassed 4609 runs in 71 games at an average of 38.09, registering his highest score of 217. The senior pro is pretty good at anchoring the innings and accelerates when needed.
