From T20 World Cup Triumphs In 2024, 2026 To Women’s World Cup Victory In 2025: A Look At BCCI’s Prize Money Over The Years

India defeated New Zealand by 96 runs in the final to clinch their third T20 World Cup title. With the triumph, Suryakumar Yadav joined an elite list of Indian captains, including Kapil Dev, MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma, and Harmanpreet Kaur, who have led the country to World Cup glory.

The victory also made India the first team to successfully defend a T20 World Cup and win the tournament on home soil. India enjoyed a dominant run throughout the competition, suffering just one defeat, a 76-run loss to South Africa in the Super 8 stage.

That setback, however, served as a wake-up call for the side. India responded strongly by defeating the West Indies in a must-win encounter before edging past England in a tense semi-final. The final, however, proved one-sided, as India posted a massive total of 255/5 and then bowled New Zealand out for 159 to seal the title.
