From Twitter: Fans praise AB de Villiers for fastest ton in ODIs

Johanesburg, Jan 19: South Africa batsman AB de Villiers hit a century off 31 balls to record the fastest ever one-day international ton during the second match against West Indies at Johannesburg on Sunday. The veteran wicket-keeper-batsman had earlier scored the fastest half-century off 16 balls after South Africa were asked to bat by West Indies skipper Jason Holder. De Villiers went to score his half century off 16 balls, one-ball-less than Sanath Jayasuriya's previous record for the fastest half-century, for Sri Lanka against Pakistan in 1995/96. He then dominated his way past Anderson's record for fastest ton.(World Record: AB de Villiers blasts 31-ball 100)

His magnificient innings ended in the final over of South African innings when he fell for an astonishing 149 off just 44 balls with 9 boundaries and 16 sixes (joint world record with Rohit Sharma). South Africa's score beat its previous highest total of 438-9 against Australia in 2006, but fell five runs short of the overall record of Sri Lanka's 443-9 against the Netherlands in 2006.
