Bengaluru, April 10: Cricketers and fans joined in to pay their tributes to former Australian captain and 'voice of cricket' Richie Benaud who passed away at the age of 84 in Sydney last night.
Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar, Australian Test captain Michael Clarke, Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott and several others mourned the death of one of the most respected players and voices in the game.
Benaud, who captained Australia in 28 Tests, passed away in his sleep. He was the first cricketer to score 2,000 Test runs and take 200 wickets. He played in 63 Tests.
He was famous for his cricket commentary with "Channel Nine" broadcaster in Australia. He was battling skin cancer.
